Ayushmann Khurrana’s hit film AndhaDhun has discovered a new fan base in China. AndhaDhun released last weekend in China and has earned Rs 106 Crore within six days. After this record, the film also crossed its lifetime collection in India.
Film analyst Taran Adarsh also tweeted the figures on Tuesday. He wrote, “#AndhaDhun stays super-strong on the crucial Mon, after an extended weekend in #China [opened on Wed]… Crosses $ 15 mn [100 cr]… Also crosses India lifetime biz [Gross BOC] in 6 days… Mon $ 1.45 mn. Total: $ 15.25 mn [Rs 106.09 cr].”
AndhaDhun cast includes Tabu, Radhika Apte and Anil Dhawan in lead roles. It is a thriller movie with murder drama around a piano player who may or may not be blind.
Andhadhun is a Viacom18 Motion Pictures production, and it had a successful release in China, directed by Ek Hasina Thi fame Sriram Raghavan, who is also known for Badlapur. Andhadhun was a standout amongst the best reviewed and best-performing movies of India, last year.
In an interview, Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom18 Studios said, “I’m happy to announce that our first China release, Andhadhun has performed very well in the China market. The Chinese audiences have shown immense love and admiration for the film, and it proceeds to grow leaps and bounds. Andhadhun is a film I am very proud of, and we are doing everything with our partners Tang Media to make sure it continues to score at the Chinese box office.”
In recent years China became a huge market for Indian films, people in China showing significant interest in Indian cinema. Indian movies which dubbed in Chinese are growing high as the public demand there, and getting massive success from Amir Khan’s Dangal, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan to Irfan Khan’s Hindi Medium. Hopefully, many more upcoming movies are going to do well and making India proud.
